Recovery - HD-5 Propane Unit
The patented AET Process® NGL
Recovery Unit technology utilizes non-cryogenic absorption to recover C3+
natural gas liquids (NGLs) from natural gas streams. The absorbed
NGLs in the rich solvent from the bottom of the NGL absorber column are
fractionated in the solvent regenerator column which separates NGLs
overhead as a HD-5 propane product and a C3-C4 mix product as a side
draw; and lean solvent is produced at the bottom. After heat
recuperation, the lean solvent is presaturated with absorber overhead
gases. The chilled solvent flows into the top of the absorber
column. The separated gas from the presaturator separator form the
pipeline sales gas. The AET NGL plant uses lighter (70 to 90 MW)
hydrocarbons, such as C5+ components of feed gas, as preferred solvent.
For most applications, there are no solvent make-up requirements, and a
fractionated C5+ gasoline product is additionally produced.
Features |
|
HD-5 Propane Recovery |
Up to 85% of recovered propane can be produced
as a HD-5 stream. |
|
|
Lower Capital & Operating Costs |
The initial and ongoing costs are lower than
competing processes. |
|
|
Feed Pretreatment |
CO2 removal is not necessary, glycol injection
for dehydration is adequate. |
|
|
Wide Operating Pressure Range |
250 to 1,200 psig feeds without inlet gas
compression |
|
|
Inexpensive Metallurgy |
Lowest temperature, limited by C3
refrigeration, permits the use of carbon steel metallurgy
predominantly. |
|
|
Upgrading Simple Refrigeration Plants |
Add-on unit enhances propane recovery from
typical 30-55% to 96+% by processing cold separator gases. |
